COURSE OVERVIEW
Welcome to Swansea University's Schools Partnership (PYPA), a new way for school and university staff to work together to ensure that 'Tomorrow's Teachers' have the skills and experience they need to make a difference to pupils in Wales.
Qualified Design and Technology teachers are in high demand across the UK. PYPA has developed an innovative PGCE Secondary Design and Technology program that will give confidence to those entering the teaching profession a better understanding of their subject and an understanding of how to teach it. This program will prepare you to make a positive contribution to the learning communities you join. PYPA's PGCE Secondary Design and Technology program is complemented by regional, national and international research. You will learn how to make Design and Technology meaningful, interesting and fun and also how to analyze your own and your pupils' development.
PYPA's rigorous and integrated PGCE program will challenge you both academically and professionally. The PGCE Design and Technology program aims to develop a critical understanding of the nature of Design and Technology and its place in the school curriculum. You will be encouraged to research and test your own approaches to Design and Technology pedagogy to identify those approaches that work best for you and the pupils you teach. PYPA is committed to developing research-led, reflective practitioners who can demonstrate creativity and flexibility in their teaching so that learners develop their subject qualification in an environment that is enjoyable.
PGCE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Successful completion of the PGCE PGCE will result in a recommendation to the Education Workforce Council for Qualified Teacher Status and an opportunity to gain employment as a NQT in schools.
