Course summary
Why study this course
This MSc combines cutting-edge robotics and artificial intelligence, offering practical, hands-on education to give you the skills needed in this rapidly expanding field of engineering.
Robotics and autonomous systems (RAS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are emerging as leading technologies that, together, have created a new generation of industry focused on autonomous and cognitive devices. Robotics with artificial intelligence is gaining prominence across multiple sectors, with increasing demand for specialists in this field.
Our MSc in Robotics and Intelligent Systems will give you the tools to explore innovative solutions to real-world engineering problems and respond to the global need for autonomous and cognitive systems that can interact seamlessly with the world.
The programme focuses on developing a fundamental knowledge of robotics and autonomous systems and its application to practical mechatronics design. From theoretical engineering and science-based knowledge to hands-on, practical skills in robotics engineering and artificial intelligence, youll apply what youve learnt to real-world problems encountered in research and industry.
How will I be assessed?
Formative and summative assessments are designed to best reflect practical relevance and to be authentic, while evidencing achievement of the learning outcomes.
This gives a measure of performance to inform you, us as staff, and potential employers about your progress and achievement. It can also help the learning process by highlighting areas of success and areas needing more attention.
Careers and placements
Robotics and Intelligent Systems is a subject that crosses and combines disciplines. This opens up many graduate career opportunities across the sector in diverse professions such as the automotive industry, construction industry, advanced manufacturing, space industry, food manufacture, healthcare sector and so on.
You will be well prepared with a competitive technical background as well as transferrable skills to suit various roles in engineering and science-based research and industrial, commercial or government organisations.
You will develop essential skills in collaboration, communication, societal responsibilities, self-learning, self-determination, critical thinking, problem-solving, innovation and reflective practices.
Career destinations include any and all engineering positions that require skills of robot design, robot control, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, intelligent manufacturing, as well as leadership positions that require essential attributes of various soft skills.
