Course summary

This ESRC-recognised research training programme will provide you with a thorough knowledge and understanding of the concepts, tools and methods of modern economics and their application to the analysis of economic problems. We will give you the training necessary for a career as an economist in the public or private sector or to undertake independent research.

Southampton also has one of the largest and most active econometric theory groups in the UK and a long-standing reputation in macroeconomics and microeconomic theory.

Assessment methods (Outcome qualification level): Some modules are assessed exams, coursework, projects, or essays. Exams are held at the end of each semester.
